6 Wire Wrapped Ring Projects & Essential Tools

It's amazing what you can create using some wire!

We're sharing with you some of our favourite ring projects using a combination of beadscabochonscharms and sea glass. When you wire wrap, you don't necessarily need a stone with a hole in it, it's all about experimenting with designs and being creative with wire wrapping. The beauty of this technique is that there really is no wrong way to do it as long as the stone is secure.

What can I wire wrap?

You can wire wrap most things but we wouldn't recommend wire wrapping anything with sharp or pointy edges such as a faceted stone (which has a pointed bottom). The more irregular the shape, the harder it will be to wire wrap, but it's all about experimenting!

What size wire can I use?

You can use any size wire you like depending on your desired design but we recommend using 0.8mm sterling silver wire (used in the below designs) which is easy to manipulate and will hold its shape well. In our wire wrapped briolette ring design featured below, we've used 0.3mm sterling silver wire.

Starfish & Apatite Ring

This pretty, coastal-inspired design uses one of our ring settings which has a loop for adding your designs to. We wire wrapped one of our delicate apatite briolettes and attached it to the loop along with one of our sterling silver starfish charms.

Amethyst & Blue Lace Agate Ring

We love this ring, featuring pastel shades of blue lace agate and amethyst! You'll be able to make this gemstone ring in minutes with the help of some jewellery pliers and a triblet.

Top tip: Always ensure the bead hole is large enough for the wire to go through.

Rainbow Fluorite Wire Wrapped Ring

This is a great design if you want to use one single bead to create a statement ring. This is a really simple project and requires you to wire wrap the single bead and attaching it to loops made within the ring.

Wire Wrapped Sea Glass Ring

If you have a collection of sea glass at home, why not put it to good use and turn it into a lovely ring that you can give as a gift to someone special! As there isn't a hole in the sea glass, you will need to secure the stone securely in the wire wrap.

Chinese Turquoise Wire Wrapped Ring

We love creating texture using chip or nugget beads! Using rough beads makes your designs one of a kind. As this is a smaller bead, we've wire wrapped under the stone to make the stone sit securely.

Espresso Drusy Cabochon Ring

You can use any size cabochon you like to wire wrap, just keep in mind that irregular shapes will be harder to wire wrap. This rectangular stone looks brilliant encased in wire and we just love the sparkles from this stone.
