ABOUT PEARLS

Pearls are formed by living organisms, within the soft tissue layer of mollusks. Freshwater pearls are developed from mussels and can produce many beautiful colours. Cultured pearls are produced by inserting a foreign substance within the body of an oyster or mussel, which then produces a pearl.
