Faceted Top Cabochons

Our range of faceted top semi precious gemstone cabochons are the perfect way to add a bit of sparkle to your jewellery designs without having to set a faceted stone. These faceted top cabochons have a flat back and a faceted top and can be set in many of our jewellery settings for cabochons. We specialise in high quality precious and semi precious gemstones that are carefully picked by our buying team for their quality and beauty. What is a faceted top cabochon?

A faceted top cabochon has a rounded top of flat, polished faces called facets and unlike most faceted stones they have a flat bottom. The main example of a faceted top cabochon is the rose cut cabochon, which gets its name due to how it resembles a rosebud, with triangular faceted which come to a point in the middle. Faceted top cabochons are available in a range of shapes including oval, marquise and freeform shapes.

FACETED TOP CABOCHONS FOR JEWELLERY MAKING

When using faceted top cabochons for jewellery making, we would recommend using bezel cups for cabochons. All you need to do is solder your design and bezel the cup over the stone using a bezel rocker to hold the stone in place. You can also use regular ready-made cabochon settings with faceted top cabochons, depending on the height. If a stone is a free-form shape, you will have to make your own setting.
