What is a cabochon?

Cabochons usually have a polished domed top and flat bottom. They are generally opaque and most have beautiful natural inclusions, making them a lovely choice for earring, pendant and ring designs.

Jewellery settings for cabochons

Cabochons can be set within a bezel setting and used with settings such as gallery wire settings and glue-in settings.

Cabochon shapes and sizes

Cabochons come in a range of sizes and shapes. At Kernowcraft, we have a variety to choose from including shapes such as round, rectangle, square, teardrop, triangle, hexagon, oval, heart and more. We also offer a beautiful range of free form gemstone cabochons for those unique designs.

Faceted top cabochons

Unlike traditional faceted stones, faceted top cabochons have polished faces called facets and a flat bottom, most can be used in a range of our jewellery settings for cabochons.
