Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed by rapidly cooling magma and the beautiful golden sheen in these AAA grade cabochons is caused by gas bubbles within. The golden sheen has a mesmerizing and almost velvet like appearance which comes to life when viewed in the light, giving it beautiful chatoyance. These also have a faceted checkerboard top which adds to the play of light in the stone - just beautiful.
