Owyhee Blue Opal Freeform Cabochons
With their soft, sky-like blue tones and gentle cloudy translucence, Owyhee blue opal cabochons capture something of the wide-open high desert landscape they come from. Mined in the rugged Owyhee region along the Oregon-Idaho border, this rare stone takes its name from the Owyhee River and surrounding wilderness. Unlike precious opal, it doesn't show a play-of-colour - its beauty lies instead in its calm, translucent-to-opaque shades of icy blue, sometimes shifting into grey, lavender or aqua.

- Sizes ranging from approximately 17.5x16mm up to 33.5x20.5mm
- Smooth, domed top with a flat base, ideal for bezel settings, wire wrapping or glue-in mounts
- Hardness of 5.5-6.5 on the Mohs scale, so a little extra care is recommended when wearing and storing your finished piece
- 100% natural, untreated gemstone, so expect gorgeous variation in colour and translucence from stone to stone
