This Precious Metal Clay (PMC) sheet is as flexible and foldable as paper. It can be draped or woven for intricate designs and can even be used for origami folding. The sheet can be combined with PMC metal clays and can be fired with a gas torch or in a kiln. It contains no water so it doesn't stick to itself or to your fingers like metal clays can and needs no drying time prior to firing. It can be very easily and precisely cut using scissors or a blade or torn for a more organic, ragged edge to meet your design needs. It is also really useful for creating bezels in which to set stones by cutting a strip, forming it into your desired shape and size (taking into account the 12% shrinkage), embedding it into your piece and firing before rubbing the bezel over the stone in the traditional way.

  • Sheet measures 6 x 6cm, approximately 0.5mm thick (thicker sheets can be made by moistening two sheets with water and pressing together)
  • Can be fired with a gas torch or kiln fired
  • Has a smooth non-sticky texture
  • Remains fully flexible and doesn't dry out like clay
  • Shrinks by approximately 12% during firing
  • Precious Metal Clay is an amazing product! In the early 1990s, Mitsubishi Metals completely revolutionised the jewellery world by developing this amazing clay which turns into 99.9% pure silver when fired. Over the years it has been improved and adapted so it can be fired with a gas torch (originally it could only be kiln fired), the shrinkage has been reduced and the composition has been altered to provide stronger fired pieces – all resulting in the brilliant, superior products available today. The clay can be moulded, sculpted and formed just like ceramic clay and the product is also available in syringe and paste (or slip) form.
