This nifty little burr is used for smoothing the ends of wire which is a must if you make your own earwires! The burr is shaped like a cup (hence the name) with small teeth inside which de-burr the wire ends in just a few twists (always turn clockwise and in the same direction to prolong the life of the burr). This 1.2mm cup burr is an ideal size for use with 0.8mm round wire (this is the size we always recommend for earwires).
It is perfect for removing sharp ends on wire wrapped designs and claws on faceted stone settings too and is much quicker and easier than trying to get a smooth finish with needle files. It has a 2.3mm shank so it can be used with most pendant or hobby drills such as our Dremel 3000 multi tool (to fit this sized shank in our Dremel you will also need a multichuck) but as the metal is ground away very fast, we would recommend using this burr with our pinvice.
