Tried these out for the first time the other day and was surprised how well they worked. Really handy for finishing pieces that i don't want to have to get my electric hand polisher out for and also for refreshing all my old scratched ring bands.

This set of polishing papers is by far the best way to make a piece shine. I cut mine into small squares so I can keep them in different places to use with different metals. Working up the grits you get a perfect mirror shine on fired PMC, silver, copper, brass, aluminium etc, you can fold or stick them over a form to use as a file but I prefer to lay them on a rubber block and use a figure 8 motion with the piece to get a scratch free shine every time. I use them for cleaning back oxidation from sterling and copper after using liver of sulphur. I still use them even now I have a tumbler, definitely one of the items in my workshop I wouldn't ever be without! (They last a long time too, so very economical!)

I have used the polishing papers on hand made sterling silver ear-wires and I'm really pleased with the result. I cut a piece off each one and wrapped it around an emery board to use it. I was contemplating buying a tumbler but for the amounts I need to polish I wasn't sure sure it would be worth it.Very pleased to have found the polishing papers as a much cheaper alternative!
Clean to use & excellent polish (& a tip for using) (by Hannah, 07/06/2011)

I've recently been using these quite a lot for polishing pieces of precious metal clay and other small silver items that I have made. They are really easy to use, clean and quickly build up to a surprisingly brilliant high polish. Particularly good if you are making jewellery at home unlike most other polishing options they don't make a mess. As each sheet is really quite big and can be cut into smaller pieces - the pack will last you absolutely ages. My top tip for using these would be to mark numbers on the sheets with a pen to indicate the order to use them in as I often forget which colour to use first!

I find polishing papers great for small jobs where a mop might not fit. Wrapped around a match stick they can get into the smallest spaces. Give a lovely shine. Good value and a perfect substitute for polishing by power tools.
