These beautiful, simple poppy earrings are so versatile to wear. Being earstuds they are great if you're on the go but also want to wear a pretty dangly earring.
Unfortunately the round amazonite cabochons featured in the photo are currently unavailable, within the shopping list for this project we have chosen our oval shaped cabochon alongside pendant setting to fit.
All you need to make these earrings is some Devcon 5 Minute Epoxy glue which is the glue that we recommend. The Devcon glue creates super-fast, high strength, high-quality bonds and as it sets clear it is excellent for filling gaps so ideal for setting stones.
Prepare the glue by mixing equal amounts of the resin and hardener in a small dish. Use a fine point such as a cocktail stick to dab a bit of glue into the petal edge setting and gently place in the cabochon. Once mixed, the glue sets in 5 minutes so ensure your cabochon straight away. Gently place it down and leave it to set. Cut the sterling silver trace chain into two 2cm lengths using side cutters. Cut the end link on each piece of chain gently then using snipe or flat nose jewellery pliers attach the chain to the bottom loop on the poppy earstuds. For more tips on opening and closing jump rings (which also applies to chain links) click here.
We sell chain in 50cm lengths minimum so if you buy loose chain you will have some leftover chain for another project! Alternatively, you could buy a 19cm bracelet and cut the chain. To take a look at our large range of sterling silver and plated chains click here.
We also have a large selection of cabochons if you would like to choose an alternative stone for your earrings.
