Cultured Freshwater Pearl Drop Necklace

Cultured Freshwater Pearl Drop Necklace

This classic pearl drop necklace could not be more simple to make. It will add a stylish, classic look to any outfit, whether it's for daytime or evening. Pearls are often worn for special occasions such as weddings and this simple necklace would look beautiful worn with a classic dress on a special day. They would make a great gift for the person that has everything!

All you need to make the necklace is the freshwater pearl, a sterling silver bail with cap, some 'Devcon 5 Minute Epoxy' glue (which is the glue that we recommend) and a sterling silver chain - we chose the delicate hayseed chain, which complements the pearl and easily slips through the loops on the pendant bail. The Devcon glue creates super-fast, high strength, high quality bonds and as it sets clear it is excellent for filling gaps so ideal for setting stones.

Are you thinking of making this as a gift? Why not add a presentation box or gift bag to your order.

Step by step instructions

Prepare the glue by mixing equal amounts of the resin and hardener in a small dish.

Use a fine point such as a cocktail stick to dab a bit of glue onto the cap of the peg and gently place it in the half drilled hole in the cultured freshwater pearl. Once mixed, the glue sets in 5 minutes so ensure you set your pearl straight away.

Gently place it down and leave it to set.

Once set, simply thread your chain onto the bail (the delicate chain easily slips through the bail) and there you have it, a beautiful necklace made in just a few minutes!
