These beautiful bohemian inspired hoop earrings are so easy to create with just a little wire work required. We have chosen our gorgeous amazonite rondelle beads to take centre stage, but of course, the bead choice is yours! This design is the second of three Mollie Makes magazine specials. This step by step project features in the September, 71st issue of the magazine, with the first being the gemstone bar necklace in issue 70 and the final project featuring in issue 72. We hope that these easy-to-create yet on trend and beautiful designs are inspiring many into the world of jewellery making.
First, it is important to ensure that your wire fits through your choice of beads. If the wire is too large you can go down a size to 0.3mm, but if you prefer the thicker wire look you could use a bead reamer to enlarge the bead holes.
Next, use side cutters to cut a piece of wire at a length of about 10cm (this is for your first earring).
Use round nose pliers to make a loop on one end of the wire and then wrap the lose end around on itself to form a neat coil. For a more detailed look at how to create this secure loop, take a look at the first 5 steps of our "How To Make A Wire Wrapped Bead Chain" page.
Next, arrange the beads in the order you would like them and then thread them onto the wire.
Wire wrap a loop in the the other end of wire as before.
Shape your wire and beads into circular tear shape.
Open the 7mm jump ring and thread both loops on, closing the ring after. For more information about how to correctly open and close a jump ring click here.
Finally, attach your earwire by opening the loop at the base and closing around the 7mm jump ring.
Repeat, the same process for your second earring and your project is complete!
