2016 Autumn Palette For Jewellery Designers

It's that beautiful time of year again, the leaves turn an array of gorgeous warm colours, the air gets crisp and the comfy jumpers can come out!

Pantone have selected a beautiful palette to represent the fashion colours of this Autumn season. We have well and truly fallen in love with these 10 colours, both individually and combined.

In this blog we take a look at the gemstones and jewellery supplies that match up with the Pantone palette of Autumn 2016, hoping to inspire some beautiful Autumn themed designs and collections. You can shop all the matched products featured in the blog in our 2016 Autumn Collection.

Pantone have described this set of colours to be "a unity of strength, confidence and complexity", explaining that "the desire for tranquility, strength and optimism have inspired a fall 2016 colour palette that is led by the blue family."

"Along with anchoring earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colours also appear throughout the collections. Transcending gender, these unexpectedly vivacious colours in our fall 2016 palette act as a playful but structured departure from your more typical fall shades".

"Blue Skies represent constancy as they are always above us. Grays give a feeling of stability, red tones invite confidence and warmth, while hot pinkish purples and spicy mustard yellows suggest a touch of the exotic."

The 10 Pantone Colours Of Autumn 2016...

This gorgeous blue instantly made us think of three gemstones - the shimmering shades of kyanite, the intense blue of sapphire and the cool tones of sodalite

Couple this beautiful blue with some shiny silver and you have a match made in heaven!

Pantone describe Riverside to be "cool, calming, strong and stable with a subtle vibrancy and sophistication. It boarders on exciting, yet maintains a sense of consistency".

Airy Blue

This beautiful light blue certainly lives up to it's name, and of course the first gem that sprang to mind... sky blue topaz! Also reminding us of a crisp, sunny autumn day we matched a few other gems that carry these airy blue tones.

Pair up with sweet silver birds for the perfect airy blue theme.

Pantone describe Airy blue to be a colour for "designers seeking weightlessness in a world with heavy conflict. It evokes feelings of lightness and freedom".

Autumn colour matches: Lush Meadow, Taupe or Dusty Cedar.

An edgy, neutral to pair with all of this autumn's colours. It's sophisticated, matt tone matches perfectly with one of our current favourites... silver grey diamonds!

Pantone explain that "there is an edge to sharkskin, and yet it manages to remain neutral. It is pair-able with any fall colour - bright or muted."

Replicate a sharkskin look with silver metal by experimenting with a satin finish. Use a fine grade on your choice of polishing materialsa scratch pen or flick brushes

Aurora Red

This stunning bold red is a striking pop of colour that compliments the overall tones of the autumn season so well, especially the beautiful warm tones we see in the turning leaves. Garnet and its intense red was the first gemstone we thought of when we saw this Pantone colour.

Pair with the warm tones of gold and some leaf charms for some autumn magic.

Pantone describe Aurora Red to be "a bold red that is warm, sensual and immediately pleasing on the eye. It is exciting, dynamic and breeds unmistakable confidence".

Warm Taupe

This colour reminds us of a warming milky coffee! After some browsing and no thanks to name, we were able to find a pretty great match - black moonstone. It's deep grey colour combined with a white schiller which appears to roll across the surface of the stone creates a tone not far from warm taupe.

We've also matched a few other products that will add a touch of this lovely neutral colour to your designs.

Again, pair with the warm tones of gold for a gorgeous neutral look.

Pantone describe Warm Taupe to be a colour that "suggests reassurance and stability. It is trusted, organic and grounded as well as timeless".

Dusty Cedar

We really love this pinky, red tone... a gorgeous mix that compliments autumn colours perfectly. It's dusty sheen reminded us of the darker shades of ruby, as well as the matt, rough look of our tourmaline nugget beads.

We think some experimenting with warm tones of metal could work well with this colour for example copper and brass.

Pantone describe Dusty Cedar as a "dustier, rose-toned pink shaded with some complexity." It is a "fall, winter version of the pinks we are used to seeing in spring. It exudes warmth and welcome".

Lush Meadow

This gorgeous deep green is definitely one of our favourites from the collection. It's strong resemblance to an 'emerald green' means our emerald gemstones are a perfect match. The rich, solid green of malachite also comes to mind.

Complimenting both gold and silver this colour just shouts class.

Pantone describes Lush Meadow as a colour that "brings to mind fresh botanicals and foliage." It is "rich and elegant, vibrant and sophisticated. This shade displays a brightness, panache and depth of colour that elevates it from more natural greens". It "elevates the overall elegance woven through this seasons collection".

Spicy Mustard

A vibrant and unique colour that transports you to the 70's! This spicy mustard yellow matched many of the tones amongst our stunning rough imperial topaz crystals.

It is a gorgeous warming colour that compliments all of the other colours in the 2016 Autumn palette.

Pantone describe Spicy Mustard as a colour that "adds another splash of uplifting vibrancy. Unexpected and unusual and comes through in the abstract and geometric accents that designers employed."

Potter's Clay

We really like this rusty reddy, orange colour... it is a perfect autumnal tone. Our red jasper beads are a great match to this neutral, earthy tone as well as the darker shades of amber.

This colour would work well with both gold and brass, as well as the silver.

Pantone describe Potter's Clay as a colour that can add a degree of sophistication and layering, the "elements of russet orange in its undertones, gives a grounded feeling that is anything but flat". It is "a shade with real substance and anything but flat."

This vibrant, attractive colour and it's beautiful berry pink tones would add the perfect touch to an autumnal inspired design. Bodacious is another colour that resembles the beautiful pink tones of Ruby.

Pantone describe Bodacious to be a colour that "lends itself to vibrant colour combinations. It is versatile and can be used with pinks and reds and it turns fashion accents into fashion statements".
