Pearl and Crystal Tiara
Tiaras are always a popular beading project for both weddings as well as other special occasions. Although they can look quite complicated, beautiful tiaras can be created with only basic beading skills - have a go and see what you can create.
How to Create
1. Set the Cubic Zirconia faceted stones in the snaptite settings.
2. Take a length of wire 15cm long and thread the snaptite setting onto it, to the centre of the wire. Bend the wire back on itself, hold with the pliers about 2cm from the end of the wire and twist them setting (rather than the pliers) so the two wires twist together to form a stem. Make sure that the stem is twisted tightly around the setting so that it does not move around.
3. Do the same with the other snaptite settings, so they are all on their own individual stem - make
5 as above and for the remaining 6 make these shorter using about 10cm of wire.
4. Attach to the tiara base by wrapping the ends of wire around the tiara base alternating between the longer and shorter ones, and space approximately 1cm apart.
5. Take two long lengths of wire approximately 40cm and 60cm long and thread through one of the holes in the end of the tiara base. Bend about 1cm of the wires back on themselves and twist tightly so it is secure.
6. Start to thread beads on the shorter length of wire, this will lie flat along the front of the tiara base and use the longer wire to wrap around the base to secure it. Thread about 3cm worth of beads at a time then wrap the other wire around the beads to hold it tight to the base. Alternate between a pearl, rock crystal chip, pearl, rock crystal round, pearl etc.
7. Once you get to the wire stems with the snaptites attached, add into the alternating beads a stardust bead, positioned between each of the ten spaces between the upright stems.
8. Continue adding beads and wrapping with the wire to hold securely to the tiara base. When you get to the end of the tiara base, twist both wires together and thread through the hole in the tiara base, then twist them back on themselves and secure to the base by wrapping neatly around the base a couple more times. Snip any ends neatly with the side cutters.
