Bezel Mount Stone Settings
The following will give you some basic knowledge of how to set stones in bezel settings. For further advice and details on jewellery making and setting stones see our selection of books.
How to Create
1. Make sure the stone sits level on the base of the setting. If not, remove a small amount of the metal using a needle file or graver until the setting is the correct size for the stone.
2. File down the top of the bezel to an angle and remove any file marks from the bezel using sanding sheets.
3. Using the pusher, ease down a small amount of bezel on opposite sides of the stone until it is secure in the centre of the mount, then ease over the rest of the bezel until it is flush with the stone. Smooth off the top of the bezel using a burnisher, taking great care not to mark the stone.
