Paragon SC2 Kiln
Product Code: C182
Available in blue, pink and turquoise!!
*Includes a thick cordierite shelf, four posts and vent bung!*
The Paragon SC2 kiln is one of the most popular and recommended kilns for using with PMC and other metals clays. It is easy to use and cheap to run and at 34x33x40cm, it fits into the smallest of work spaces. The inside chamber measures 20x20x14cm, meaning it is large enough to fire multiple pieces at one time (easily enough space to fire jewellery pieces for a whole class). It is a 1095°C, four sided, square, ceramic-fibre, front-opening kiln, with an easy-to-use, 3-key digital programmer.
This kiln is suitable for firing PMC, Art Clay, BronzClay, CopprClay, the new Glassclay, glass-bead annealing, dichroic glasses, enamelling, jewellery, lost-wax casting, low-fire ceramics, glass fusing, and much more, making it a really versatile kiln. The digital programmer allows you to easily control the temperature, ramping (the rate at which the kiln heats up) and the time the temperature is held. It heats up in approximately 15-20 minutes. The elements are embedded in ceramic fibre and heat the kiln from both sides, minimising the front-to-back temperature difference common with smaller kilns.
Your kiln comes with one hard shelf and four posts to stand it on, a vent bung, full instructions and is ready to use for as soon as you receive it. Please note that there are four options; you can buy the basic kiln (fine for metal clays), one with a glass door (if you wish to view the progress of your work), one with a bead annealing door (useful for glass work and enamelling) or one with a bead annealing door and a window (a great all-rounder and by far our best seller). There are also extra shelf kits available (C183) that consist of a thick cordierite shelf (suitable for glass work and enamelling) and four posts to stand it on. We do recommend that you buy at least one extra shelf kit when you initially buy your kiln as you are likely to need an extra one at some point as you can fit up to three shelf kits inside the kiln (read more here). There is a special price available if you buy them when you order your kiln too.

Customer reviews of this product:
“I'm an enamellist and a metal clay artist. When I started looking for my first kiln, I wanted one kiln that would serve both these needs. I found exactly what I was looking for in the Paragon SC-2. Over the years this versatile little kiln has been an absolute workhorse and has never let me down. It's fast and precise. I can fire an entire load of metal clay, from start to finish, in about half an hour! The addition of a window in the door has made it perfect for enameling. Being able to watch the enamels fuse eliminates problems with over-firing."

“I love Paragon, have been using their kilns since the late 60s. I used them first for pottery and casting, then glass, and now PMC. It'll do anything, probably stand on its head for me. I have used it for wax burnout, beadmaking, metal clay, enameling, heat colouring copper—just about everything. It's a workhorse!"
Ann at Ann Davies Jewellery
“I am so pleased with my new kiln and loving working with it after an initial flap about how to programme it! I was very impressed with the price as it was the cheapest I'd found it and had free postage. I was also very pleased at how quick the delivery was and have made a few things already. My first piece sold on day one!"
Freya, Isle of Arran
“I was very pleased with the extra fast delivery on the kiln and the careful way it had been packed; it's also a very convenient size for stowing away in a cupboard when not in use! I have only used the kiln for PMC so far, but it was very easy to use. I don't have a separate workshop, so have to work in the kitchen - I set it up on large ceramic floor tiles on a table in the middle of the room so that it is away from anything flammable."
