Cork Clay
Product Code: C192
Make beautiful beads and other hollow forms out of metal clay using this great product. Cork clay is a mouldable clay made from fine cork particles and organic, water soluble binder. It can be modelled into the shape you require, dried out and then covered with clay and fired. The cork clay burns away completely, leaving a small amount of ash behind which can be easily brushed or rinsed away. Although it is recommended for firing in a kiln, we have successfully torch fired small pieces by hand (we carefully did this outside to avoid inhaling the smoke which is produced as the cork clay burns away). Cover shapes with rolled out clay, paint on paste or make delicate filigree shapes using the syringe. You can even trap small pieces of gold or silver or fireable stones inside the cork clay and trap them inside your bead!
Available in a handy 60g pack (7.5x5x2cm) which is perfect if this is your first time trying out cork clay, or a bulk 240g pack (15x10x2cm). For a rough guide, you can make approximately 75 1cm shapes from the 60g pack which works out at only £0.05 a piece. Or for slightly more chunky designs, you could make approximately 37 2cm pieces - a little goes a long way!
