Silver crinkle metal sheet, 0.5mm thick
This clever metal consists of an 80% silver / 20% copper reticulation alloy on a fine silver (99.99% silver) back, giving an overall silver content of 96.6%. It comes as flat sheet metal but reticulates as soon as it is brought up to temperature without the need for any surface preparation. It is fully annealed which makes it soft and easy to form. Traditionally, the surface of sterling silver needs to be prepared before reticulation takes place and the results are often random and as such, govern your design. This can be time consuming, wasteful on materials and inconsistent in the results. The beauty of this clever bi-metal is that it can be formed before bringing out the surface texture and it will hold it`s shape perfectly. It can be soldered (using easy or medium solder), pickled and patina applied as sterling silver. This is such a great way to get beautiful texture on your pieces without any compromise on design. It has a blue printed pattern on the reticulating side (this disappears on heating).
