Terrible tarnishing- solved!

There’s nothing worse than going to put a piece of jewellery on and discovering it’s all black and tarnished, so what can you do to help ease this from happening?

Tarnishing in silver is caused by a chemical reaction with a variety of elements including moisture and oxygen. The process is accelerated by lots of everyday things such as perfume, deodorant sprays and even food products like orange juice, so it’s clear to see why it happens so often.

One way of slowing down the tarnishing process is by creating a barrier between the silver and the air, Renaissance wax is a great way of doing this. Used by museums and art galleries you merely have to rub a little on your piece of silver to coat it. It not only polishes your items but creates a layer that stops oxygen and other tarnishing elements getting to the silver so easily.  A little really does go a long way with Renaissance wax so our handy 65ml pot will help to protect hundreds (if not thousands!) of items. And it’s not only silver it can be used for, some use it as a coating for copper to help prevent that awful green colour it can pass on skin, it can also be used to protect tools from rusting, so it really does have its uses!
