Create something beautiful this bank holiday!
This gorgeous two strand necklace was inspired by the sea that surrounds us here at Kernowcraft. It was so quick and easy to make, simply follow our list of ingredients and get threading! We mixed gemstone and sterling silver beads together in this design to add a bit of extra sparkle, the bottom strand is heavily beaded, the second strand hangs slightly higher with a few beads delicately threaded onto it. This is not a specific plan but a list of ingredients we used so go ahead and let your creativity run free this bank holiday!
Sterling Silver Plated Flex-rite wireWe chose to use our Sterling Silver Plated Flex-Rite wire in 'fine' as the silver colour really shows off the beads. Simply cut two lengths sufficient enough to hang at the length you would like around the neck. We cut two pieces at around 45cm.
Faceted Teardrop Gemstone PendantWe used our faceted gemstone teardrop pendant in Green Aventurine as the focal piece to this necklace. Simply thread on to the wire.
Turquoise chip beadsWe used these Turquoise chip beads throughout our design as we love the vibrant turquoise, so bright and summery! Mix with all the other beads in this list of ingredients either side of the central pendant to create a beaded strand as we have done. We also used a few of these beads mixed with others on the second, more delicately beaded strand.
Amazonite faceted briolette beadsThese Amazonite faceted briolette beads are such a beautiful milky blue and really compliment the other beads we used in this design. We scattered a few of them on the second strand of this necklace as well as around the main gemstone pendant.
Carnelian Button BeadsWe used these gorgeous Carnelian rondelle beads to add a bit of extra colour to our design, the rich orange really compliments the blue tones of the necklace. We only used 4 of these beads for our design, two on each strand but you could always add more for a different effect.
Sterling Silver Round BeadsWe interspersed a few 2mm plain sterling silver beads into our design to break up the gemstone beads. They particularly look good either side of the Amazonite briolette beads. We used approximately 12 of these little beads in our design mixed in with the gemstone beads but you could use as little or as many as you like...let your creativity run free!
Fancy Polka Dot BeadsThese sterling silver fancy polka dot beads are covered in a beautiful pattern and are a real favourite among the Kernowcraft team. They create a beautiful contrast to the gemstone beads in this necklace! We used two of them, one either side of the gemstone pendant to break up the gemstone beads.
Sterling Silver Nugget BeadsWe also used two of these sterling silver nugget beads in our design in between some of the gemstones.
Sterling Silver Disco BeadsWe used approximately 6 of these beautiful sterling silver disco beads on the second strand of this necklace to add a bit of extra sparkle and glamour. We simply interspersed them with the gemstone beads.
Sterling Silver Cone BeadsOnce you have threaded enough of the beads onto the two strands of this necklace it's time to join the two together. We did this by threading the two wires through these medium sterling silver cone beads then adding a crimp at the end of each to hold the strands in place. It's important to pull the second strand slightly tighter so that it hangs higher than the heavily beaded one. Our magical crimping pliers are great for this as they shape the crimp into a bead making the crimp part of your design.
Add the finishing touches....Now you've got your necklace ready all you need to do is add some clasps. For this we used our sterling silver jump rings in 5mm which we attached to the threads by looping the thread through and sealing with a crimp. We used our sterling silver caribiner clasp on one end as a fastening, this was attached on the end of one of the jump rings.
And it's ready to wear...We hope you love the design you've made!
