Crazy About Cabochons
Gorgeous new gemstones... just arrived!
When a new shipment of gems arrives it feels like Christmas has come early! And in early December we received a wonderful, big shipment of some of the most beautiful gems. Lots of little individually wrapped packages of sparkly gems, in mouthwatering colours, flashes of irridescence and facets that glint and twinkle as the light hits them.
There is always a buzz of excitement in the office whilst we sort through and open each package and discover a new favourite, exclamations of "oooh" and "wow" are often heard! One of the perks of the buyer at Kernowcraft is being the first to unwrap and sort through the gorgous cabochons and faceted gems. Sitting across the office, it is impossible to stop from getting up to look at the latest discovery that has been unwrapped.

Which is your favourite?
The last few weeks of unpacking and photographing these beautiful gems has been a real treat. After hours of studying and putting them on the website for you, we're all dreaming of the creations we can make with our favourites and hoping you don't buy them first! We all make our own jewellery too, so it is impossible to work with all these lovely stones without selecting your favourites and getting attached to the prettiest and most unusual specimens. Each day we have been uploading new stones to the website and you have been quick to snap up your favourites, but do keep checking for new stock as there are still some waiting to be uploaded to the website over the next week.
"I design and make my own jewellery and am particularly interested in silversmithing. I enjoy creating my own settings for beautiful and unusual stones, so I simply couldn't resist one of the new cabochons for myself! I had the job of photographing each stone and found myself falling in love with almost every single one, in particular a large rectangular labradorite with the deepest blue flashes. The longer I looked at it the more I imagined it as a big statement ring, with a simple silver bezel setting to really show it off in all its glory - I just had to have it!! But don't worry, there are still plenty more for you!"

"Its so exciting getting new stocks of gems in, especially the special cabochons and faceted stones, as each one is unique. Its impossible not to get attached to them though, having spent so much time sorting through trays and trays of them - all brightly coloured like sweets! My favourites seem to change day to day, but today my favourite, to date, has to be a large faceted yellow mexican opal teardrop, which would make a stunning pendant."
